Neurological Rehab

Dr. Garcia will perform a comprehensive evaluation to assess physical impairments and limitations to function due to mobility, strength, and/or balance deficits. Pain and spasticity are examined as well. Together, the physical therapist and the patient will create goals to restore function and independence. Treatment and care are one-on-one. Progress and program adjustment are continuously monitored by the physical therapist.

The therapist will use a variety of treatments, approaches, and specialized equipment to create a custom program around your specific needs and goals. Examples include:

  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Manual therapy
  • Gait training
    • Parallel bars
    • Body Weight support systems including: Lite Gait, Intelligently Controlled Assistive Rehabilitation Elliptical Training System, Pneu-Walker MT, Giger MD, Body Weight support track over Vibeplate system, Woodway treadmill with support harness
    • ReWalk Exoskeleton
  • Specialized adaptive training equipment:
    • Rifton Pacer XL Gait Trainer
    • Easy Stand Glider
    • Keiser cable system and squat rack, which utilize pneumatic systems for safe and progressive training of strength and power in any participant
  • Neuromuscular reeducation
  • Compensatory strategies and techniques
  • Balance training
    • Biodex Balance System
  • Assistive devices:
  • Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), FES upper extremity and lower extremity bikes
  • Vibration Therapy: Galileo
  • Vestibular rehabilitation (link)
  • Tile table
  • Sport equipment, including weight lifting equipment, Smith rack, and punching bags
